These did not work for us...the wind whipped the plants and killed them off...would twist them around....

The only time I ever saw these used was in a greenhouse and the owner way overloaded the greenhouse supports with 5 of them. It brought the whole greenhouse down when he watered.

I had 15 of these growing every season, until I switched over to Earthboxes, and other SIPs, as these had even better results, and are much easier to set up. I had a bunch of photos, but got screwed by photobucket, so here is one I found, and uploaded to flickr. I had them supported by a horizontal 2 x 6, with vertical 2 x 4s bolted to it, and a vertical 2 x 3 inside each bucket, with two T-nuts, to bolt the buckets to the 2 x 4s. It was a two person job, putting them up, and taking them down. I had a drip line running along the top, with an emitter on each bucket. Occasionally I would lose plants to wind, but no more often than it would happen on the ground. 004 by pepperhead212, on Flickr

I think I live in a wind tunnel and when I tried growing tomatoes in upside containers I bought online it was an issue. I didn't have a watering system and I suppose the wind kept them dried out too.
